How to Decorate a Tiki Bar

Whether you are planning to host a luau-themed party in your backyard or if you are interested in permanently installing a tiki bar at home, decorating a tiki bar is possible with a bit of brainstorming, creativity and decorating in a tropical-theme. Having a tiki bar gives an authentic tropical atmosphere to any area of your home, and you can easily achieve this look by following these easy how-to steps.
First: Give your bar a tiki makeover
Decorating your Tiki bar takes more than just a few umbrellas in your drinks. You should include an upgrade to the exterior of the bar itself. Keep the tiki bar with a wooden finish, or paint sections of the exterior various shades of brown for a real tiki-bar theme. Paint strips of bamboo and fruity drinks on the outside of the bar to represent its feel and what it also has in stock for your guests. Hang seashells from rope beneath the roof of your tiki bar to give the bar depth and an ocean feel.
Second: Use tropical-themed decor
Place a tiki totem pole on the corner of your bar for good luck, or stuff all your glasses with colorful tropical umbrellas, perfect for displaying the luau theme you have. Set backyard tiki torches on opposite ends of the bar as well as table tiki torches for guests near the bar drinking. Also, consider adding tiki masks you make yourself for an authentic Pacific feel.
Third: Add a Menu
Use a traditional chalkboard with brightly colored chalk to create a menu for your home's tiki bar. Include the drinks you have available as well as other fun facts about your home, family or the event you are hosting.
